Today's Scriptures and Notes:
“In Order to Get Peace, You Must Give Up Your Right to Understand”
Philippians 4:7 NKJV and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
But what do you do when you pray and the situation gets worse?
What do you do when you obey God and still find yourself in a storm?
What do you do when you know God is good, but you cannot explain what He is doing?
Peace comes when you trust God even when you don’t understand what He is doing
In order to get peace, you must give up your right to understand everything
1. PEACE DOES NOT REQUIRE AN EXPLANATION
God’s peace can exist in a situation your mind cannot explain
“Lord, I may never understand this, but I trust You anyway”
Job 13:15 NKJV Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
Sometimes, when you lose your explanation, you discover whether you really have faith
The child may not understand the route, but the child trusts the driver
2. WORRY IS OFTEN THE RESULT OF TRYING TO CONTROL WHAT ONLY GOD CAN HANDLE
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
You cannot have God’s peace while insisting on maintaining control over every unanswered question.
3. SURRENDERING YOUR RIGHT TO UNDERSTAND IS NOT SURRENDERING YOUR FAITH
Proverbs 3:5 NKJV Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
God did not give him a complete map
God gave him a command
4. GOD’S PEACE DOES NOT ALWAYS CHANGE THE SITUATION BUT IT CHANGES HOW YOU STAND IN IT
Philippians 4:7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Peace is not the absence of trouble
Peace is the presence of God in the middle of trouble
5. YOU MUST DECIDE WHICH VOICE WILL HAVE THE FINAL WORD
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
6. SOMETIMES GOD WILL GIVE YOU PEACE BEFORE HE GIVES YOU AN ANSWER
“Before I show you why, will you trust Me?”
Matthew 11:28 NKJV Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
When you give up your right to understand: …you make room to receive the peace that surpasses understanding
